The RAM market is experiencing the largest price surge in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue in the medium term. This was reported by a specialist and creator of the YouTube channel Gamers Nexus. AI development has led to a rapid increase in the cost of RAM Thus, the reviewer pointed out that the price of DDR4 and DDR5 modules in the consumer market has increased by 100–180% over two months, and in certain segments, it has almost tripled. In the fall, popular 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kits were sold for $120–140. Now they cost $250–270. Individual items, such as Team Group kits, have increased in price by almost 170% – from $93 to $250. The DDR4 sector, whose production is systematically decreasing, shows an even more pronounced dynamic. From June to November, the cost of DDR4-3200 CL16 kits increased by 100–180%. G.Skill Ripjaws modules rose in price from $52 to $146. According to Gamers Nexus, at certain points, the market noted a daily price increase of almost 1%, and the spot price of DDR4 increased by 22% in just seven days during certain weeks. The factor driving inflation is not the usual four-year memory market cycle, but structural shifts in demand distribution. Large-scale procurement by the AI and data center sectors has reshaped the market, and experts predict that a return to previous price levels should not be expected in the coming years.
