By November 19, 2025, NASA has announced a special open briefing concerning the interstellar object 31/ATLAS. The session is scheduled for 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (11:00 PM Moscow Time) and will be streamed for all interested parties. The agency intends to present the information it possesses about this extraordinary celestial body, although a specific list of the materials to be presented has not yet been disclosed. According to experts, the revealed information may include previously confidential data obtained from the HiRISE instrument—the largest telescope deployed in deep space. This instrument is mounted on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter automatic interplanetary station, which operates in Martian orbit. Although the resolution of HiRISE when observing 31/ATLAS reaches about 30 km per pixel, which prevents discerning the nuances of the object’s core, these frames are considered the most detailed available at present. Mysterious space object shows atypical behavior again It is worth recalling that 31/ATLAS passed Mars on October 3rd at a distance of about 28 million kilometers, which is 10 times closer than the maximum approach to Earth. Images from the European probes ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter and Mars Express were previously published, but their clarity did not allow for the detection of significant characteristics of the object. Information from the sensitive HiRISE instrument has not yet been provided to the scientific community.
