Huawei is focusing on significantly increasing the amount of RAM in its new products. It has been officially confirmed that the Mate 80 RS and Mate X7 smartphones will come equipped with 20GB of RAM, and for those who might find this insufficient, the MatePad Edge convertible tablet is being prepared with an unprecedented 24GB of RAM. Huawei held an official presentation for the MatePad Edge, revealing the device and all its features to the public. This tablet is capable of functioning in both tablet and laptop modes and boasts a 14.2-inch OLED display that provides a large workspace. The key specifications were announced by insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo: the top-tier MatePad Edge modification will have 24GB of RAM onboard and 1TB of internal storage. The tablet is powered by a Kirin 9 series processor, positioned as “PC-level,” and features an active fan-based cooling system to maintain optimal temperature. Additionally, a Soft Light modification is planned, with a screen specially tuned to minimize reflections and reduce eye strain. The keyboard for the MatePad Edge supports various setup angles, has a key travel of 1.8mm, is equipped with a pressure-sensitive Free Touch trackpad, and features an integrated 65W charging port. It can automatically detect the switch between PC and tablet usage modes. Preliminary information also indicated the existence of a variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and the device body will be available in “Lunar Silver” and “Cosmic Gray” colors. The MatePad Edge is Huawei’s first convertible tablet running HarmonyOS. It is designed to replace the MateBook E series, which debuted in 2021, but unlike its predecessors that ran on Windows, this new tablet operates on Huawei’s proprietary operating system.
