The man reached for the snake himself to show it to the vacationers. A tour guide working on the island of Borneo in Indonesia almost perished during an unsuccessful attempt to subdue a six-meter python. The snake simply dragged him underwater, reports Vice. As it turns out, the guide and his assistants were traveling with guests on a boat along the Sebangau River. At some point, they spotted a python resting on the bank, and the guide, possessing skills in handling snakes, decided to approach closer to show it to the tourists. Leaning over the side of the boat, the man grabbed the snake by the head, and in response, it lunged at him and pulled him out of the boat. The python began to constrict the guide in its coils, dragging him underwater. Fortunately, his assistants rushed to the aid of the victim, grabbing the snake by the tail and head, forcing it to release the guide. “It was the biggest and most powerful python we had ever seen,” said one of the witnesses to the incident. The publication emphasizes that pythons in Borneo and Sulawesi are increasingly venturing closer to bodies of water and fields due to shrinking forest areas.
