Microsoft Corporation has announced a significant update for Windows 11, scheduled for release in early 2026. This iteration of the OS is expected to become a full-fledged AI platform, integrating Microsoft 365 Copilot, which will significantly simplify user interaction with both files and Office applications. The corresponding announcement regarding the large-scale modification of the Windows 11 operating system, focusing on deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI), was published on the company’s official blog. The leadership of the American IT giant emphasized that Windows is undergoing a transformation, evolving from a traditional OS into an AI-centric environment. A key element of this major update will be the introduction of AI agents capable of analyzing user requests and performing necessary actions in the background. As part of the upcoming update, the Microsoft 365 Copilot neural network will be embedded directly into the system tray (taskbar). Upon receiving a command from the user, the AI agent will move there and continue working invisibly to the user. Navjot Virk, one of the corporation’s key top managers, commented on this as follows: “At any time, you will be able to hover your cursor over the neural network icon to see the status of the tasks being executed by the agent.” Additionally, Copilot functionality will also be available in “File Explorer,” which will noticeably ease file structure management. Furthermore, AI capabilities will be extended to the entire Office suite. In Outlook, the neural network will be able to rephrase emails, and in Word, it will be able to create and correct texts. Similar improvements will apply to the enhanced voice input function in Windows: the AI will process the user’s speech, converting it into text while maintaining correct punctuation and spelling. This list of new features will be available to Windows 11 device owners starting in the first months of 2026. It is worth recalling that at the end of October, Microsoft already introduced an interim update for Windows 11, which included the following new features: Modernized Start menu New features for both Copilot-enabled devices and standard personal computers.
