
Dieter Herzog, a 1974 World Cup champion with the West Germany national team, has passed away at the age of 79, as reported by the official resource of the German Football Association (DFB). Already at the age of 14, the highly promising athlete played for his club’s youth team, and from 1965 for five years, he defended the colors of the “Bottrop” and “Hamborn 07” teams in the regional championship.
