The game, which took place in Montreal, ended with an away victory with a score of 8:4 (periods: 1:1, 4:2, 3:1). Alexander Ovechkin scored three times for Washington, the Russian player netting goals in the 1st, 57th, and 58th minutes. Ethan Frank (goals in the 22nd and 24th minutes) and Sonny Milano (38th and 59th) each recorded a brace, while Jacob Chikran scored another goal (35th). For Montreal, the goals were scored by Brendan Gallagher (16th), Joe Veleno (28th), Nick Suzuki (36th), and Mike Matheson (46th). Alexander Ovechkin, named the best player of the match, spent 15 minutes of ice time, taking three shots on goal. The Russian forward of the “Capitals” scored in his fourth consecutive championship game, thus equaling the NHL record for the longest goal-scoring streak in the regular season among players aged 40 and over. The hat-trick scored by Ovechkin against the “Canadiens” was his 33rd in his NHL career. With this achievement, the “Washington” captain moved up to fourth place in the league’s history, sharing the spot with Brett Hull. In the game against Montreal, Ovechkin also recorded an assist. The Russian reached the milestone of 1643 points in his NHL championship career, surpassing Joe Sakic to move into sole possession of tenth place on the list of the league’s top scorers. Currently, in 21 games of the 2025/26 season, Alexander Ovechkin has accumulated 20 points (10 goals and 10 assists).
