A humanoid robot created by the Chinese firm AgiBot (Zhiyuan Robotics) has set a Guinness World Record by completing a non-stop distance of 106 kilometers, moving between Suzhou and Shanghai. According to the developer, this achievement is officially recorded as the “longest walking journey completed by a humanoid robot.” The AgiBot A2 humanoid is equipped with a pair of GPS modules, a lidar, and infrared depth sensors, which allowed it to successfully navigate the route regardless of lighting conditions—day or night—while maintaining reliable spatial awareness. The device started from Suzhou at night on November 10th and arrived at the Bund waterfront in Shanghai at dawn on November 13th. Thanks to a mechanism for quick power unit replacement, the android managed to cover the entire route without any pauses, maintaining uninterrupted operation. AgiBot was founded in 2023, and its office is located in Shanghai. The developer’s main specialization is the creation of robots for commercial needs, including customer service in the hospitality industry, cargo transportation, and cleaning operations. China is demonstrating rapid development in the field of robotics. According to data from the State Administration for Market Regulation of the PRC, by the end of 2024, the number of companies operating in the country’s intelligent robot sector exceeded 451,000. The total share capital of these enterprises reached 6.44 trillion yuan (approximately 900 billion US dollars). Notably, since the end of 2020, the number of such enterprises has increased by 200%, indicating a colossal rise in this economic sector.
