The cause of the man from Taiwan’s bowel movement problems was an ordinary ceramic cup. This information was disseminated by the Taiwanese news agency Central News Agency. The man sought medical help because he had been unable to evacuate for three days, experiencing severe bloating and abdominal discomfort. After an examination and an X-ray, doctors found an inverted cup in the patient’s rectum. The object measured six centimeters in diameter and eight centimeters in length. Initially, specialists tried to remove the cup using special instruments, but its surface proved too smooth. An attempt at a laparoscopic procedure also yielded no results. Due to the presence of the foreign body, blood supply to a certain section of the rectum was disrupted, leading to tissue death. Ultimately, surgeons were only able to extract the cup through traditional open surgery. The patient explained that he was too embarrassed to immediately report the nature of his problem. He admitted that he had tried to remove the object himself at home but was unsuccessful. When asked how the cup ended up in his rectum, the man replied: “I don’t understand myself, it happened by accident.” Not long ago, another case became known where doctors had to remove a sex toy from the anus of an elderly man (62 years old). A transparent ball, 6.5 cm in size, containing a red substance, was stuck in his intestine.
