The choice of who will represent the United States in discussions with Russian delegates in Moscow next week rests with US President Donald Trump.
This was announced by Russian head of state Vladimir Putin following the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit and his visit to Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the Kremlin’s Telegram channel.
“The most recent update I received yesterday was that President Trump has made a decision. As previously arranged—there was an earlier agreement—the American side is proposing a meeting in Moscow next week,” he stated.
The Russian President noted that Russia remains consistently open to engagement.
Prior to this, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that Russia was preparing to host the US President’s Special Representative, Stephen Biegun, next week. An in-depth meeting between Biegun and the Russian President is scheduled during this visit.
According to Bloomberg, Biegun proposed in October the development of a Russo-American roadmap for resolving the Ukraine conflict, drawing parallels to the framework used in the Gaza Strip. The agency suggests this proposal was introduced by the official during an exchange with Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov on October 14th.
