Upcoming Samsung handsets are slated to feature ultra-fast wireless charging capabilities, according to a report from Android Authority.
The South Korean firm is expected to unveil its Galaxy S26 series early in 2026. Media outlets investigating the firmware code for One UI 8, which will be deployed on all new devices in this series, discovered references to this super-fast wireless charging technology.
Activating this hidden capability is currently precluded by hardware constraints, suggesting this new charging standard will debut exclusively with the Galaxy S26 devices. Experts estimate that standard wireless charging will deliver 5-10 watts, while fast charging will operate at 15 watts, and the ultra-fast charging will reach 25 watts.
The article notes that 15-watt fast wireless charging was introduced to Samsung devices back in 2020 with the launch of the Galaxy S20 smartphones. Journalists pointed out that, when benchmarked against competitors, Samsung’s 25-watt ultra-fast charging is relatively modest. They highlighted that numerous Android phones are already capable of supporting wireless charging speeds between 50 and 80 watts.
Previously, renowned leaker Ice Universe suggested that Samsung would refrain from integrating significantly more advanced camera systems into upcoming smartphones as a cost-saving measure. He indicated that the company plans to continue utilizing the established 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL sensor in its phones through 2029.
