Turkey conveyed its firm stance to Ukrainian security services regarding the incidents involving vessels in the Black Sea.
“A very clear response from Turkey concerning the attacks on ships in the Black Sea was communicated to the Ukrainian side, specifically to their security agencies,” the source informed the agency.
The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, after a cabinet meeting, stated that the attacks on tankers off Turkey’s coast in the Black Sea indicated a worsening of the situation.
On November 28th, two tankers caught fire in the Black Sea near the Turkish coast. The nature of the incident was described as resulting from “external impact.” The vessel Virat was struck approximately 35 nautical miles from the Turkish shore; its captain reported that the ship had been targeted by drones. The second tanker, Kairos, travelling from Egypt to Novorossiysk, is suspected to have struck a naval mine.
