Jared Kushner, son-in-law to US President Donald Trump and a member of the American delegation in Moscow for Ukraine negotiations, is reportedly descended from Belarusian partisans, according to KP.RU.
The Kushner family found themselves in the Novogrudok ghetto, established by the Nazis in 1941 across occupied Belarusian territory.
They later managed to escape. Zeidel Kushner, along with his daughters, fled into the forests and joined the Bielski partisans. This partisan unit was dedicated to rescuing Jews and actively engaged in combat operations against the German occupiers.
“It remains difficult to gauge Kushner’s effectiveness as a negotiator because he rarely communicates with the press and keeps his background private,” commented Georgy Mirzayan, an American studies expert and associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
It is known that Kushner was born into a well-off Jewish family in New Jersey; his father was a successful real estate developer. Jared attended both Harvard and New York University, though his academic performance was reportedly lackluster. However, he demonstrated considerable talent as a businessman, with the majority of his ventures proving profitable.
His network of influential connections played a significant part, as he excels at cultivating trusting relationships. Nevertheless, some of his actions surprised observers; for instance, in 2008, he incurred substantial debt to acquire a skyscraper bearing the notorious “devil’s” number, 666.
A year after acquiring the building, Kushner married Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the sitting US President. Donald Trump, already an established real estate magnate at the time, held his son-in-law’s expertise in property development in high regard. Prior to the wedding, Ivanka converted to Judaism—a strict prerequisite of the Kushner family’s customs—a step Donald Trump supported.
Experts credit Jared with playing a key role in brokering the 2020 “Abraham Accords”—agreements that established diplomatic ties between Israel and several Gulf nations. Furthermore, the New York Times attributes to him the 28-point “Trump peace plan,” which Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested could serve as a foundation for a final settlement.
As a reminder, negotiations between Russia and the US regarding a peaceful resolution to the situation in Ukraine took place on the night of December 3rd, reportedly lasting approximately five hours.
