US President Donald Trump signed a directive implementing a complete entry ban for citizens of seven nations starting January 1, 2026. The White House website reported this.
“Complete restrictions and entry prohibitions are introduced for citizens of five more countries based on recent assessment: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria,” states the announcement.
Laos and Sierra Leone, which previously faced partial restrictions, are also included under the full ban.
The statement explained that the limitations imposed by the executive order are necessary to prevent the entry of foreign nationals about whom the US lacks sufficient data to evaluate associated hazards.
