The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is betrothed to Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, a representative for Trump Jr. confirmed to CNN.
President Donald Trump revealed the engagement on Monday evening at a White House holiday gathering.
The declaration brought renewed focus to a connection that spurred tabloid conjecture throughout the president’s election drive.
Trump Jr. has been married previously. The president’s firstborn proposed to his initial spouse, Vanessa, in 2004, and the pair were wed at Mar-a-Lago in 2005, per news accounts then. Vanessa Trump sought a divorce in 2018.
Trump Jr. was also formerly engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, a past Fox News figure who later served as finance chair of the Trump campaign during the 2020 presidential contest.
She stays close to the Trump family. As rumors circulated regarding Trump Jr.’s connection with Anderson, then president-elect Donald Trump designated Guilfoyle as his selection to serve as US envoy to Greece, a post she presently occupies.
Anderson and Trump Jr. were seen jointly in public earlier this year during a Trump family excursion to Scotland, where they joined the president for a ribbon-cutting event for a new golf course and a trade agreement announcement.
In her Instagram profile, Anderson portrays herself as “just your typical stay at home mother … only I avoid domestic duties … or possess a spouse … or have offspring.”
In a clip of the White House pronouncement posted on social media by Trump supporter Laura Loomer, Trump Jr. remarked, “I’m not usually short of things to say, because I’m typically doing the criticizing and shouting quite effectively, I wish to thank Bettina for that single phrase: ‘Affirmative.’”
