The last of the surviving Dion quintuplets, Annette, has passed away at the age of 91. This was reported on December 26 by The New York Times (NYT).
The cause of demise was complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
“The story of the Dion quintuplets began with joyful news during the grim times of the Great Depression. With a collective weight of 13 pounds 6 ounces, they survived—in a farmhouse lit by kerosene, without any plumbing system—on water and corn syrup until they received donated breast milk,” the publication states.
The children were born in 1934 in the Canadian province of Ontario and became the first quintuplets to survive infancy.
