In 2025, nations of the world launched 4499 satellites into orbit—this is around 1700 more spacecraft than in the preceding year.
The primary engine for this growth was once again the company SpaceX. Its Starlink system accounted for 3160 launched satellites, which represents 70% of the total new spacecraft for the year. In essence, Starlink is shaping the majority of contemporary orbital constellations, setting the pace for the entire satellite launch market.
Among the remaining devices, most are also linked to the USA—either directly or through manufacturing for international clients. Chinese “nationality” was assigned to 369 satellites, and another 91 space devices were crafted in Russia.
The other countries, which are quite numerous, restricted their launches to anywhere from several dozen satellites to just one or two craft.
