US President Donald Trump blocked the 2024 agreement between American Emcore and HieFo for the sale of the semiconductor business and indium phosphide manufacturing facilities for $2.9 million. The order was published on the White House website.
“There is credible evidence to allow me to believe that the HieFo corporation controlled by a citizen of the People’s Republic of China may take actions that endanger the national security of the United States,” the document states.
Trump demands that HieFo divest all rights to Emcore’s assets within six months, including contracts, inventory, and equipment. The decision aligns with US policy to counter Chinese influence in the semiconductor sector.
