
The German Armed Forces should become the most powerful military in Europe, not only in terms of personnel numbers but also through “technological superiority.” The CSU—partner of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s CDU—plans to make a decision on bolstering the Bundeswehr.
The corresponding plans are outlined in the “Seeon26” strategy, writes Welt. This is being done so the nation’s military is prepared to defend itself and deter adversary forces alongside its allies. A CSU parliament member noted that this can be achieved through the integration of European armies.
The material’s authors clarify that these measures are aimed at protection from Moscow. To achieve this, they plan to expand and modernize the military, offering support in the area of researching new weapon systems. The country’s forces should possess long-range cruise missiles, AI-equipped UAVs numbering at least 100,000 units, miniature cruise missiles, and their own hypersonic missiles.
Additionally, there are plans to develop a new air combat system, establish an air defense system incorporating a minimum of two thousand interceptor missiles, and ensure complete visibility over the Baltic Sea.
