OpenAI revealed the launch of a dedicated section, ChatGPT Health, separate from the main ChatGPT interface, where users can pose queries related to well-being. To gain more tailored responses, various services such as Apple Health, Function, MyFitnessPal, and others can be linked.
Last month, the publication MacRumors had already noticed icons connected to Apple Health in the ChatGPT application, and today’s announcement officially verified this connection. Upon linking, the system will gain entry to workout and wellness data from Apple Health, including details about the user’s physical activity and sleep quality.
It is stated that ChatGPT Health also supports integration with medical records. The neural network will be able to examine lab test outcomes and other facets of a patient’s history to formulate answers to user questions. However, OpenAI emphasizes that the service is not intended for making diagnoses or prescribing therapy, nor is it a substitute for consulting a healthcare professional, though it might assist in comprehending examination results or preparing for an upcoming doctor’s appointment.
Considering that health topics are sensitive, OpenAI incorporated multi-layered encryption, along with stricter privacy configurations, into ChatGPT Health. Since data from this section is not utilized by default for training the core ChatGPT models, if a user begins discussing health in the general chat interface, the system will prompt them to relocate the conversation to the private Health section.
The service can be accessed via a waiting list for a group of beta testers. Users on the Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans residing outside the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the UK are eligible to join. Currently, integration with medical records and certain applications is only available within the United States. In the upcoming weeks, access to ChatGPT Health will become available for all iOS users and in the application’s web version.
