
Intelligence from the PRC supposedly compromised electronic mailboxes of US Congressional committee personnel. This is reported in a Financial Times piece.
According to information from the British newspaper’s reporters, the data from the email accounts was allegedly obtained by the cyber group Salt Typhoon. It is noted that the breaches were detected back in December.
“Chinese intelligence gained entry to the email systems utilized by certain staff of the House Select Committee on the CCP,” the article states.
It is known that the PRC embassy in the US rejected the accusations. A representative of the Chinese consulate general emphasized that it “opposes baseless speculation and assertions from the US aimed at tarnishing China.”
In October 2025, the American cybersecurity and infrastructure agency discovered that hackers had accessed computers belonging to federal government bodies. The malicious actors could have stolen passwords and security keys, as well as acquired confidential information.
