Google unveiled a novel AI interface for Gmail, supplementing the classic inbox and built for navigating tasks and updates.
The AI Inbox tab comprises two areas. “Suggested actions” highlights messages needing responses, such as bill payments or appointment confirmations. “Topics to review” gathers status notifications, like financial transactions or orders, sorted by category.
Additionally, AI summaries will arrive in Gmail search. Users will be able to pose questions in natural language and receive concise answers based on email content, eliminating manual searching. The new “Proofread” feature reviews draft messages and suggests revisions to enhance clarity, conciseness, and correctness. Its operation is comparable to automatic correction services.
The AI Inbox, search summaries, and “Proofread” capabilities are accessible to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google asserts that private information is not employed for training foundational models and is processed separately.
