Elon Musk reposted a notice detailing a major undertaking by the xAI company. This concerns a structure spanning roughly 75,000 square meters that will host the Colossus 3 data center—a next-generation supercomputer. Upon activation, it will be the world’s largest in terms of both processing power and energy consumption.
The facility has already been shown in initial images. The site is situated in the city of Southaven, Mississippi, and is designed to accommodate a colossal volume of server hardware.
Colossus 3 is viewed as vital infrastructure for the training and operation of future-generation AI models. Previously, it was revealed that the Colossus I and II data centers in Memphis currently house over a million high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs)—Nvidia chips for artificial intelligence that markedly speed up AI development.
