Astronomers have found an unknown type of cosmic object. It was named “Cloud-9.”
It is assumed that this discovery might bring researchers closer to solving the mystery of “dark matter.” It represents a form that does not participate in electromagnetic interaction but gives structure to the cosmos. Consequently, this matter is inaccessible to direct observation. This concept was introduced for the theoretical understanding of the hidden mass problem in the effects of abnormally high rotational speeds in the outer regions of galaxies.
“Cloud-9” is a component of dark matter and a possible remnant of galaxy formation. Its diameter measures 4900 light-years, CNN reports.
It is noted that the cloud lacks stars, yet it could become a galaxy if they begin to appear. Scientists are currently actively studying it.
