Two women who worked in the mansions of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias have claimed they were sexually harassed and assaulted by the performer. This was reported by the Spanish portal elDiario.es on January 13.
The publication notes that the incidents occurred in 2021, when Iglesias was 77 years old. The victims of the incidents were a housekeeper and a physiotherapist who worked in the performer’s homes in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Both women have filed lawsuits.
“Iglesias’s Spanish citizenship allows him to be sued in Spain, even if the alleged actions took place in third countries,” the publication states.
Currently, neither the singer, who is now 82 years old, nor his lawyer have commented on the women’s allegations, elDiario.es added.
In December of last year, it was reported that figure skater Ivan Desyatov, who competes for the USA in ice dancing, has been banned from competitions for life following accusations of sexual harassment. The athlete had been skating in a duet with Isabella Flores since 2022. Desyatov faced the threat of disqualification after French figure skater Solène Mazingue, representing Estonia, accused him of sexual assault.
