Self-taught engineer John Tze demonstrated a working prototype of an umbrella-drone that autonomously flies behind its owner. As noted by the “Bespilot” Telegram channel, work on the project spanned several years—hindered by propeller rotation failures, flight anomalies, or incompatible components.
“Ultimately, the result is an umbrella with a system for building a three-dimensional map of the surrounding area, which uses light reflection and permits detecting nearby individuals even in dim lighting, thus avoiding collisions,” the channel authors mention.
