Former forward of the Washington Capitals, T.J. Oshie, commented on playing together with the Russian center and captain of the “Capitals,” Alexander Ovechkin.
“When you arrive in Washington, you constantly hear that Ovechkin will soon start slowing down. Goodness, and back then, he was just approaching his 500th goal. There are players who transform the game. And if you are fortunate enough to be part of something like that, those are the stories you tell your grandchildren later,” reports The Athletic, citing the ex-hockey player’s words.
Recall that Alexander Ovechkin has played for the “Capitals” since 2005, winning the Stanley Cup with the team.
Last April, the 40-year-old captain of the Washington Capitals surpassed the long-standing record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894) for the number of goals in NHL regular seasons. Currently, Alexander Ovechkin has 917 pucks scored.
It is worth noting that in the current NHL regular season, the Russian has 40 (20+20) points via the “goal+assist” system in 47 games.
At present, Washington occupies eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings, holding 54 points.
