More perilous than COVID-19: an incurable viral infection is gaining momentum in the United States.
A novel virus type, known as adenovirus, is easily mistaken for common cold or influenza. Nevertheless, it quickly affects the respiratory system, visual organs, kidneys, and other vital organs. The virus possesses high contagiousness and transmits from person to person, demonstrating particular activity during the cooler season.
Officials voice apprehension and caution against underestimating the situation, pointing to the risk of a new global pandemic similar to the initial stage of COVID-19’s spread.
It is emphasized that this virus has become a primary factor in the sharp rise of flu incidence, which has already resulted in 7.5 million confirmed cases, 81 thousand hospitalizations, and 3100 fatalities this season alone. Competent authorities are currently investigating the virus’s origin, not ruling out the theory of its artificial creation as a new type of biological weapon.
