American business magnate Elon Musk is reportedly considering acquiring the airline Ryanair. He inquired about the company’s valuation via the X social media platform, posting, “How much would it cost to buy you?”
This followed an earlier exchange where Ryanair responded to a New York Post piece detailing significant outages on X in the US, by asking Musk, “Perhaps you need Wi-Fi?”
In reaction, the US entrepreneur subsequently asked about the price tag for purchasing Ryanair, suggesting he would “put someone actually named Ryan in charge.”
Following this, he initiated a poll. Of nearly 38,000 participants, 82% expressed approval for Musk potentially acquiring the low-cost carrier and “restoring Ryan as the rightful leader.”
Ryanair is an Irish ultra-low-cost carrier. Its headquarters are situated in Dublin, with its primary operational hubs located at Dublin Airport and London Stansted. Currently, Ryanair services 240 routes across 35 nations, operating 3,600 daily flights.
The narrative of Ryanair commenced in 1984. The enterprise was established by three Irish entrepreneurs: Tony Ryan (founder of the aircraft leasing firm Guinness Peat Aviation), Christopher Ryan, and Liam Lonergan, who owned the Irish travel agency Club Air.
The airline went public in 1997. A year prior to that, Ryanair Holdings was formed as a parent company for Ryanair. At present, Eddie Wilson serves as the CEO of Ryanair, while Michael O’Leary holds the position of Group Chief Executive Officer.
