
The first comet of 2026, destined to incinerate in the Sun this coming spring, has been discovered by scientists. This announcement originates from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, citing information from the International Astronomical Union.
“The discovery of the inaugural comet for 2026 has been reported. On April 4th of this year, this specific comet is set to impact the Sun,” the official statement reads.
It is worth noting that this celestial object has been designated C/2026 A1 (MAPS).
