Billionaire Elon Musk, who recently joined BlackRock CEO Larry Fink for a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, projected that artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence by the close of 2026, and within another five years, AI will be smarter than all of humanity combined.
“I have no idea what will happen in 10 years, but given the speed of AI progress, I anticipate we might see AI that is smarter than any single human by the end of this year, or definitely by next year at the latest,” Musk stated, further commenting, “It’s likely that by 2030 or 2031—let’s say within five years—AI will be more intelligent than the entirety of humanity put together.”
Previously, Musk had expressed his belief that xAI could reach the level of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), matching or exceeding human cognitive capabilities, within the next few years, potentially as early as 2026.
