According to Wired, malicious software was allegedly employed for the purpose of data acquisition.
NEW YORK, January 23. /TASS/. Login credentials and passwords associated with over 149 million user accounts globally have been leaked online. This was reported by the publication Wired.
It is understood that the publicly accessible information included data from 48 million Google Gmail mail service accounts, 17 million Facebook social network accounts (which is banned in Russia; owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation), and 420 thousand accounts from the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. Furthermore, details of bank cards and access keys for various national government digital systems and streaming services were also discovered.
Wired indicates that determining the originator of the compromised database was unsuccessful. It is surmised that malware was utilized to gather this information.
