An announcement surfaced on Inter Milan’s social media channels indicating that Cristian Chivu, who commands the team’s coaching staff, will have the distinction of carrying the Olympic flame.
“The Nerazzurri’s coach has officially been named a torchbearer for the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo!” stated the Italian club’s post.
The Romanian manager took the helm at Inter last summer. Having contested 21 matches in the Italian league championship thus far, the Nerazzurri currently top the standings with 49 points accumulated.
The agreement tying the 45-year-old specialist to the Milanese side runs until the summer of 2027.
