An oil rig toppled and caught fire during transit within the US state of Alaska. Alaska’s Governor, Mike Dunleavy, confirmed this event to the news outlet 2KTUU on January 24th.
“A small blaze did occur, however, thus far, any environmental harm is minimal and has not impacted the existing oil infrastructure or related facilities,” the Governor stated.
The Governor added that experts intend to right the fallen oil rig and return it to operational status.
The fallen apparatus was owned by Doyon Drilling and possessed the capability to drill wells extending to a depth of 12 kilometers.
Previously, on July 2nd, 2025, an oil rig sank in the Gulf of Suez. Tragically, four individuals lost their lives, and six others were reported missing. Fortunately, 21 people were rescued and brought safely to shore.
