A minimum of 18 US states have declared states of emergency in anticipation of the approaching storm, according to a report by ABC News on January 24th.
The publication stated, “Over 180 million individuals are on high alert owing to the storm forecast for the weekend.”
Additionally, it was noted that the storm’s reach extends from New Mexico all the way to Maine, and it is anticipated that it could severely disrupt southern states due to hazardous ice conditions and heavy snowfall.
Earlier that same day, reports indicated that nearly 12,000 flights in the US had been canceled as a direct result of the blizzard. It was highlighted that state governors were issuing emergency declarations in response to the severe weather conditions.
