NEW YORK, January 22. /TASS/. Apple, the American corporation, is intending to transform its voice assistant Siri into a fully-fledged artificial intelligence-powered chatbot sometime this year. This strategic move, as reported by Bloomberg citing inside sources, is designed to enable the company to effectively contend with market frontrunners such as OpenAI and Google.
These sources indicate that the chatbot project has been internally dubbed “Campos.” It is slated to completely supersede the existing Siri application interface. The new chatbot functionality is set to be accessible across Apple’s ecosystem, including iPhones, tablets, and computers. Activation will remain consistent with the current voice assistant: either through the spoken command “Siri” or via a prolonged press of the side button.
This overhaul of Siri is positioned as a cornerstone of Appleās strategy to gain traction in the AI market, where it currently lags behind its rivals. The agency recalls that while Apple introduced its first significant AI-driven operating system enhancements in 2024, these initial rollouts reportedly disappointed expectations and suffered implementation delays.
The updated application is scheduled for unveiling in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference in California, with the official public release anticipated in September.
