The 52-year-old actor is savoring a win over his 50-year-old ex-wife. Brad Pitt managed to secure significant concessions from Angelina Jolie.
Brad Pitt triumphed in court against Angelina Jolie, compelling her to reveal sealed private messages.
The Hollywood heavyweights have been entangled in a fierce legal battle since 2022 concerning their French vineyard estate, Château Miraval. In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her company, Nouvel, to a subsidiary of Tenute Del Mondo, which belongs to the Stoli Group, thereby transferring her 50% stake. However, Brad Pitt challenged this transaction, asserting that it contravened an agreement made between them.
The actor prevailed over his former partner. He successfully obtained a ruling that mandates Angelina Jolie to declassify personal communications with her aides and the buyer. The judge ordered the actress to hand them over. Legal analysts suggest that these previously undisclosed communications could sway the case’s outcome, possibly even deciding it in Pitt’s favor.
“The more effort expended to shield documents, the more critical they are perceived to be. Thus, given the substantial efforts Jolie made to protect them, I would deduce that these texts and emails undermine her standing in the case, possibly fatally so,” commented Brett Ward, a partner at the law firm Blank Rome, which specializes in divorce and family law.
Attorney Trey Lovell concurred with his colleague’s assessment. He elaborated that while an order for disclosure is rather routine, this development could represent a major victory for the “Fight Club” actor. “Parties involved in litigation constantly contest which documents must be turned over, which questions must be answered, and which objections should be sustained. Clearly, these documents are considered damaging to Jolie, evidenced by the extent her legal team went to avoid producing them. This appears to be a substantial win for Brad,” Fox News quoted the expert as saying.
Jolie’s legal team argued that the undisclosed documents were protected by non-disclosure agreements. Nevertheless, the judge dismissed this argument. Legal advocate Patrick Bagdasarian stated that now it rests with the Oscar winner whether the text messages from the “Maleficent” star will be made public.
“Typically, when a motion to compel production is granted, those documents don’t automatically become part of the case record unless someone introduces them as evidence during a public trial. The overall bearing on this matter will depend on the substance of these documents that were improperly withheld. These records could serve as the proverbial smoking gun that drastically weakens Angelina’s position in court,” the attorney concluded.
