
Russian tennis player Rada Zolotareva has advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 Australian Open girls’ tournament. In the early hours of January 30th, she secured a victory in the quarterfinals against the 11th-seeded Chinese player Yushan Shao with a scoreline of 7:5, 6:3.
The match lasted for 1 hour and 7 minutes. Zolotareva delivered three aces, committed five double faults, and successfully converted six out of eight break point opportunities.
Her opponent managed one ace against three double faults and capitalized on four out of five break points she had.
On the same day, it was announced that the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world number five, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, will face Arina Sabalenka from Belarus in the final of the Australian Open. It was noted that the tournament is scheduled to conclude on February 1st, with the total prize pool amounting to approximately $75 million.
