WCCFTech reports a significant surge in accounts detailing the sudden failure of AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processors over the past month. The majority of these documented failures seem to be occurring on ASRock motherboards belonging to the 600 and 800 series lineups.
The pattern described by users, predominantly surfaced on the Reddit forums, is consistent: a computer that had been operating flawlessly for several months suddenly fails to boot. Upon attempting to power on, the motherboard’s debug LEDs remain lit, signaling an issue with either the CPU or the RAM. Conventional troubleshooting steps have proven ineffective, forcing affected owners to process a return merchandise authorization (RMA).
Of particular note, several individuals have experienced this failure not once, but twice. User Shelcreature noted that their initial Ryzen 5 9600X failed back in October 2025, and the replacement unit they received only lasted three months before also failing. This occurred while running the most up-to-date BIOS version. Similarly, GamerGoblin has also reported two separate instances of their Ryzen 5 9600X dying. Another system, owned by SpecificSun9142 and utilizing an ASRock B850M PRO RS WiFi board, only operated for six months before succumbing.
At this juncture, it remains uncertain whether this issue stems from voltage control settings within the ASRock motherboard BIOS or if it indicates a manufacturing defect inherent to the processors themselves. Neither AMD nor ASRock has issued any official statements addressing the increased frequency of these hardware failures.
