
The New York Rangers ice hockey team fell short against the Pittsburgh Penguins in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season contest.
The game, played in Pittsburgh, concluded with the home team securing a victory by a score of 6-5 (with period scores of 2-0, 1-1, and 3-4). For the Penguins, Anthony Mantha netted two goals (at the 3rd and 33rd minutes) and Noel Acciari also scored twice (at the 7th and 42nd minutes); additionally, Rickard Rakell (42nd minute) and Benjamin Cundall (58th minute) contributed one goal apiece. The Rangers’ scoring contributions came from Alexis Lafrenière (39th and 59th minutes), Vincent Trocheck (50th minute), Russian defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov (56th minute), and Will Cuylle (60th minute).
Vladislav Gavrikov also registered an assist. Pittsburgh’s Russian forward, Evgeni Malkin, tallied one primary assist in the game. Penguins forward Egor Chynakhov took four shots on goal, delivered one significant hit, and managed to block two shots.
This marks the sixth consecutive win for Pittsburgh. Conversely, the Rangers have now suffered their sixth defeat in their last seven NHL championship games.
