US molecular biologists have engineered a prototype HIV vaccine, where a single inoculation proves sufficient to neutralize the immunodeficiency virus.
The Wistar Institute’s press office reported that the shot underwent successful trials on primates.
The announcement highlights that conventional vaccines typically require seven to ten injections before becoming effective.
“The immunogen we developed, designated WIN332, achieves this outcome immediately upon the initial application,” the publication stated.
