A 28-year-old man has faced trial in Bavaria for the attempted murder of his own three-year-old daughter, according to the German newspaper Bild. His motive, as alleged, was to evade alimony payments by poisoning the child.
This incident took place in the city of Landshut in December 2024. According to the prosecution’s account, the man, who is originally from Afghanistan, forced a sealed packet containing poison into his daughter’s mouth, causing her to ingest it. The child quickly became gravely ill, prompting her mother to call emergency services right away. The quick response of medical professionals ultimately saved the girl’s life.
The prosecution suggests that the accused had been planning this act for several weeks. He researched the characteristics of various poisons before ultimately deciding on aluminum phosphide.
