Tampa Bay Lightning forward from the National Hockey League (NHL), Brayden Point, a two-time Stanley Cup champion (2020, 2021), has been removed from Canada’s roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
This information was disclosed by league insider Pierre LeBrun on his social media profile. However, the rationale behind the 29-year-old Lightning forward’s absence from the Games in Italy remains undisclosed.
It should be recalled that the men’s Olympic hockey tournament commences on February 11th. The “Maple Leafs” are slotted into Group A alongside the national teams of Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland. The Russian national team will not be participating in the 2026 Olympics due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
Point has been a member of the Tampa Bay organization since 2016. In the 2025/2026 NHL season, the forward participated in 37 regular-season contests, accumulating 30 points via the “goal plus assist” metric (11 goals and 19 assists).
