A power outage struck a Chinese village because a farmer attempted to move a pig using a drone. The cable attached to the animal snagged on a power line, plunging the entire settlement into darkness. This peculiar event was reported by the South China Morning Post.
The incident took place in a mountainous area in Southwest China. The man was trying to transport livestock from an inaccessible location using the unmanned aerial vehicle.
The farmer explained that the mishap was due to poor visibility, as the flight was conducted during the night. The line carrying the first pig damaged the high-voltage wires. Consequently, the village was deprived of electricity for ten hours. Repairing the line required the efforts of twelve workers.
The material cost resulting from the incident was estimated at roughly $1400 (approximately 108 thousand rubles, as noted). Police have launched an investigation, and the farmer could face repercussions for contravening drone usage regulations.
