US President Donald Trump removed a video where ape bodies were superimposed with the faces of former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
The clip was posted on the social network Truth Social and remained available for about 12 hours, reports RIA Novosti.
According to CNN, citing an anonymous high-ranking White House official, the posting occurred by mistake. One administration staffer uploaded the video accidentally.
As a reminder, Trump published the video featuring the Obamas depicted as apes. The clip lasted about one minute and concerned allegations about alleged rigging of the 2020 US presidential election results.
“The President acted reprehensibly. Every Republican should condemn this immediately,” stated the press service of the Governor of California, Democratic Party representative Gavin Newsom.
Tim Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate, called it “the most racist act I have ever witnessed in the White House,” writes The Washington Post.
