Team USA secured victory in the figure skating team event at the Olympic Games, accumulating a total of 69 points.
The roster for the United States team included Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier.
Japan claimed the silver medal with a score of 68 points: Kaori Sakamoto, Yuma Kagiyama, Shun Sato, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, Utana Yoshida and Masa Tomiyasu.
At their home Olympics, the Italian squad earned the bronze medal with 60 points: Daniele Grassi, Matteo Rizzo, Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri, Sara Conti and Nikolo Macii, Lara Nakic Gutmann.
Georgia finished in fourth place with 56 points. Canada came in fifth with 54 points.
Prior to the men’s free skate, the USA and Japan were tied on points. The United States ultimately prevailed because Ilia Malinin achieved first place.
The Winter Olympic Games are taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from February 6th through the 22nd.
