Xiaomi Launches Self-Install Smart Lock with Matter Support for Global Markets, Starting at €145
Xiaomi has unveiled its Self-Install Smart Lock for worldwide availability, specifically highlighting its user-friendly installation process that eliminates the need for drilling or professional assistance. This gadget, which was previously on sale in territories like Japan and the UAE, is now making its European debut.
The key selling point of this new device is its drastically simplified mounting procedure. Unlike numerous competing models that necessitate replacing the existing door hardware, the Xiaomi lock securely fits over the current keyed mechanism. This design circumvents complex modifications and allows users to retain their original door handles.
The lock provides users with several modern access methods:
· Fingerprint authentication via scanning;
· Generation of permanent or temporary digital passcodes;
· Control managed through a companion application utilizing Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity;
· Activation via voice instructions when linked with supported smart home assistants.
Furthermore, a traditional physical key is included as a failsafe backup entry option. Crucially, the unit embraces the open Matter standard, ensuring interoperability across various smart home ecosystems beyond just Xiaomi’s proprietary offerings.
Across Europe, the smart lock is now obtainable through select retailers, such as Galaxus in both France and Germany. The entry-level variant is priced roughly between €145 and €153. An upgraded package, which bundles an extra external keypad, is also available for approximately €179 to €189.
