In Italy, a 57-year-old man mistakenly discarded a container holding 20 gold bars into the trash. This was reported by the radio station RMF24 on February 12th.
“The event took place in Torre Lapillo, in the province of Lecce. A 57-year-old resident of the area accidentally threw a tin box containing 20 gold bars into a garbage receptacle,” the report stated.
It is further specified that over many years, he had been purchasing gold, accumulating a fortune valued at €120,000. Only the following day did the Italian realize he had thrown away the gold and alerted the police. Law enforcement determined that the refuse had already been transported to the landfill in Ugento. Searches were subsequently initiated there, during which the box with the ingots was successfully located.
