Irish filmmaker Rory Robinson showcased the capabilities of the Seedance 2.0 neural network by generating a lifelike video depicting a brutal fight between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt atop a skyscraper. This short clip, produced with minimal effort—just a couple of clicks—immediately sparked apprehension in Hollywood circles.
Screenwriter Rhett Reese (“Deadpool & Wolverine”) declared that “it’s all over” for the film industry, predicting that soon, a single individual could generate movies indistinguishable from major studio productions. He believes the threat to genuine filmmaking professionals will be most severe when talented individuals utilize these tools. Reese confessed to being terrified by the prospect of AI encroaching on creative domains and voiced serious concerns for both his colleagues’ employment and his own career. The expert specifically lauded the superior quality of the footage generated by the Chinese neural network.
Reese pointed out the irony that Hollywood, which has historically restricted creative access in the past, will now confront technologies enabling bright, gifted newcomers to “destroy the industry” by producing “incredible things.” He claimed that writers and producers are already covertly employing AI for drafting and script analysis.
“The funniest part is everyone is watching AI critique what it wrote itself,” he quoted.
