The sixth reactor at the world’s largest nuclear power facility, Kashiwazaki-Kariwa in Japan, has commenced delays in both electricity generation and subsequent transmission, according to a report by the 47News agency on February 13th.
“Within the pressure vessel of the restarted power unit No. 6 at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant (Niigata Prefecture), the neutron measurement equipment located in the guide tube has ceased functioning correctly,” the official statement indicated.
This issue was recognized on February 12th, prompting station personnel to halt the reactor’s operation to conduct necessary measurements. An anomaly was subsequently confirmed during the inspection process.
News of the restart of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant, which had been shut down following the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi accident, surfaced on December 22nd of the previous year. At that time, Masakatsu Takata, a representative for Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), affirmed that he and his team were resolutely committed to preventing any recurrence of incidents at comparable sites.
